Carrie and Me
Carrie Matheson is a revelation to me.....ever since I started watching Homeland in it's 1st season she captivated me with her realness. That's one of the only words that I will use to describe her on this blog. If you read other publications or simply watch the show on your own accord then your word for her might be crazy. And that she might very well be, but to me Carrie unearths an everyday quality that I have yet to see in a television character. The show's creators allow the viewers into her mind, as scitzo as it may be. We get to see the vivid colors of her thinking process evolve at every step. We also get to see her go down the deep corridors that most of us "real" people recognize. Sometimes it is hard to watch....that might be why I can't take my eyes off of her as her manic eyes search for answers. Her emotions lead her alot of the time; a thing that I bet hinders her ability to be a great spy. Her mind, tho, cannot be matched in it's efforts to unearth what people are really thinking. That is what makes Carrie so unique. She really cares about the outcome. She REALLY cares about Brody. You can't find that kind of dedication now a days.......She made "The Choice" to go all the way with Brody.....she "gave it all up". Now she believes in him so much that she wants to clear his name! WOW! What a woman....I just hope that it doesn't backfire on her and Brody is still on his terror rampage? Who knows? This wouldn't be the first time in history that a woman was blinded by love. Well Carrie has blinded this blogger with her fine mind and "unique" perspective on how to live. I think I'm in love.....now all I have to do is make her forget Brody.

This Couldn't Wait
Today I wanted to blog about Kobe Bryant being a "sympathetic figure" in the midst of this season. A fluff piece about the dichotomy of a millionaire who is self engulfed with himself and his goals and the notion of feeling "sorry" for him. But, when I heard the news about the shooting deaths in Connecticut I decided to write about something that matters. I don't know if anyone will even read this, but it couldn't wait. The world, the country that we live in...we have to wake up. There are so many layers to tragedies like this. We will hear all the appeals for stauncher gun control and all the prayers and such. I agree with all that, and I welcome it, but when are we going to get to the heart of the matter. Something is going on and we have to try to solve the riddle. We are so concerned with getting money and progressing up social ladders that we forget about people. Forgotten people fail themselves......this guy whoever he was, was forgotten. Love the people that are around you and don't turn your back on them when you see that they have problems. Do what you can to help people when they are in a mental downpour. All we have really are our souls and hearts to give to people in need. This guy did a terrible thing and ruined a bunch of other people's lives. The 18 children will never grow up to reach their potential of who they can be, the children who witnessed this cowardly act of depression will never be able top forget this day. Some will never move on from this and thus it will ruin their lives....the cycle will run. We have to love one another more and realize what is important to human beings and what is not. Lets try to Love one another.........Lets try

Hard to Win Fantasy Football if Real Football Gives Up.
I suffered a tough loss to fellow blog contributor last night. Losing by less than a point in fantasy football is like watching the person in front of you grab the last 60" TV on Black Friday1. It's like trying to solve a rubix cube and having ONE yellow tile out of place. It's like yanking out a tooth that just started to wiggle yesterday only to have the tooth fairy leave you a quarter instead of the much anticipated dollar2.
No one should have to lose by less than a point. I lost by 0.48 points. After an incredibly long work day, I was left with no 60" TV, a dent in the wall from the unsolved rubix cube I had thrown, what felt like a monstrous toothache3, and a bank account less the league buy-in4.
Down by 17.38 points (in a 0.5 PPR league) going into last night's game with both Andre Johnson and Owen Daniels in my line-up, I was facing a nail-biter. I knew the points were not guaranteed. To my surprise, neither were the minutes played by the Texan players. With 7:23 left in the 4th quarter, New England up 42-7, Houston had taken out some of the starters. Tate was running the ball, and Yates was throwing...throwing to Posey5, NOT Andre Johnson.
Now you tell me, how is one supposed to win a matchup when the players slated to play, don't play? Yahoo had not shut down6 and given up on my game, what allows Coach Kubiak to give up7? Coach, your players performed poorly, they obviously need more practice! Have Yates throw it, for all I care8 - just give the ball to Johnson or Daniels ONE MORE TIME.
Each reception = 0.5 points
ONE MORE TIME = one more reception
Therefore...
ONE MORE RECEPTION = 0.5 points = enough points to win the match up!
Shame on me for not starting Heath Miller. I let the ugly Charlie Brown uniforms and questionable QB status blur my fantasy vision. I should not have doubted Big Ben...he did promise to take Miller to the Pro-Bowl.
Fantasy Football is NOT just a stupid game, folks9.

1I would know. Flashback to Best Buy, Black Friday 2009.
2Do kids still get money under their pillow these days? Or has currency been replaced with iTunes gift cards?
3Quite possibly caused by the clenching of the teeth as I continued to refresh the Yahoo app on my iPad.
4Losers do not win any money in my league.
5Let me introduce you to DeVier Posey, rookie from Ohio State. Available in 100% of leagues.
6I think Yahoo has learned its lesson.
7Greg Schiano says, "...fight until they tell us game over."
8I don't have Schaub as QB in any of my leagues. He can do backflips on the sideline for all I care.
9Your wives and co-workers haven't lived until they have endured a frustrating season full of injury reports and inflated projections.

It's going to take me awhile to get over this one. (And let's not even get started on my Pick 'ems for the week...)

David Stern vs. The Spurs..The Newest NBA rivalry?
I wanna start this post off by first saying that I hate the Spurs. It's that plain and simple. I've been a devoted Mavericks fan since 1992, so that tells the entire story. Throughout the 90's and most of the 2000's, the Spurs have just simply had our number. Thus the hate. I have also hated the way in which they have gone about their methodical superiority. Pop, the mad genius of a coach; the big fundamental; never makes mistakes, the way that he fell into their laps in the 1997 draft and instantly made them contenders. I hate the way they know that they have been the best franchise in basketball since I can remember and they don't flaunt it. I hate fake humbleness. I don't care for the way Tony Parker can get into the lane at will or the way Ginobilli flops and competes his ass off every minute of every game he is in. Bottom line is that the Spurs do things the right way and they have been rewarded for their diligence. Yeah, Yeah , Yeah.....good for them. They have their 4 championships and the best PF to ever play the game. They have had enough good. That's why I wasn't upset when David Stern jumped the gun and fined the Spurs $250,000.00 for nothing. The power drunk midget cannot stand a slight......he took the fact that Pop sent the stars home as a slight. So, he took immediate action! I love it when the Spurs get the shaft. Then, this morning to my delight I saw this :)
Can't wait to see what David "Napoleon" Stern says about this!!!! And I can't believe that TD was involved! Ok, I'm done, just giddy.

You've Just Been Posteriz'd.
You gotta love how sports has managed to find a way to embarrass the already embarrassed. To be ankle-broken is one thing, to be posterized is another.
Captured in a moment's time. Not just any moment - a moment of weakness by one completely dominated by strength and vitality of another. A freeze frame reminder of the oohs and ahhs tweeted. Sportscenter's Top 10, centerfolds of magazines, posters on walls, front pages of websites...all allow those who missed the moment to share in the trending topic and those who were witness to it the first time to relive it.
Michael Jordan, LeBron James, Blake Griffin...just a few who have mastered the art of posterization. Validating their superiority on the court with monster dunks is just the salt to their tequila.
So, here's a Shot for Thought...What if we could bring posterizing to life? I don't mean 3-D posters or 4-D Fatheads. What if we could posterize moments in people's everyday lives? Imagine capturing an "I told you so" moment with your superior at work. Or an "I don't need you" incident with a parent or guardian. Makes you thirsty, doesn't it?
MTV is on the right track with "Punk'd" (recently revived). The difference: no hidden cameras, no practical jokes. You've just been posteriz'd.
